ILS Video Remote Interpreting.

video remote interpretingDelivering on the decade-long promise of quality healthcare VRI.

For years VRI has promised to significantly improve the quality of on-demand interpreting verses over-the-phone services, as well as significantly lower the costs of on-site interpreting without sacrificing the quality of the patient/provider experience.

For many technical and cost issues, VRI has failed to effectively deliver on those promises. Now, with the evolution of ILS VRI, healthcare facilities can finally unleash the potential of video remote interpreting.

Why ILS VRI works when other systems don’t.

Legacy Systems ILS VRI
Plug into the local network, either with a wired connection or via countless WiFi routers, overloading the network and causing significant congestion. Uses dedicated wireless broadband provided directly to each video station -- no WiFi routers -- bypassing the local network and avoiding network congestion.
Must run through the local firewall, requiring IT support and approval to open up ports for video communication. Never touches the local network and does not impact firewall settings.
Operate with old Standard Definition screens at densities of 360p or 480p, as low as 20-25 frames per second (fps), to conserve bandwidth, often with Narrow Band audio. Operates at up to full 720p High Definition video at 30 fps for a superb patient/provider experience, particularly important for American Sign Language. A 720p screen has more than twice as much information per screen than old Standard Definition 480p screens. Audio is full wide-band, DVD-quality for superb clarity.
Require large up-front capital equipment purchases, IT support/maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting and costly replacements. No purchase fees, no lease fees – ILS continues to own, operate and manage all equipment, including high-speed wireless broadband for each station. A flat setup fee per video station provides on-site installation, setup and user training. You even receive an extensive ‘at-fault’ warranty that covers most user-caused damage with replacements as fast as next business day (read coverage documents for full details).
Commonly used only for ASL ILS provides both spoken language and ASL services via a single integrated system. ASL on-demand or pre-scheduled for the utmost ADA compliance. Spoken language on-demand or pre-scheduled to improve the patient/provider experience over phone encounters and significantly lower on-site interpreting costs that carry a 1 or 2 hour minimum. Both ASL and spoken language encounters have only a 15 minute minimum per encounter.

video remote interpretingILS VRI is also fully HIPAA-compliant, employing the AES encryption standard with all video encounters traveling via private VPN tunnels. Our hosting site is a true 2N, Tier 3+ facility that is SAS 70 Type II compliant. Whip out those terms for your skeptical IT people and they’ll be suitably impressed with your due diligence on the ILS VRI solution.
